Footwear Resistance Measurement
Release time:2025-04-18 Views:0

Compliance verification of ESD control articles and materials according to ESD TR53-01-22 and ANSI ESD S20.20-2021 electrostatic discharge control scheme. By measuring the resistance value of the footwear system, it is verified whether it meets the requirements of ESD control standards to ensure that the footwear can effectively prevent the damage of electrostatic discharge to sensitive electronic components during use.

The importance of anti-static shoe resistance measurement

Through the measurement of the resistance of the footwear system, it can be verified whether the resistance value meets the requirements of the ESD control standard. This helps to ensure that the footwear can effectively prevent electrostatic discharge from damaging sensitive electronic components when used in an electrostatic sensitive environment, thereby ensuring product quality and reliability. At the same time, it also meets the requirements of ANSI ESD S20.20-2021 electrostatic discharge control scheme, which helps to maintain a safe electrostatic sensitive environment.

Preparation of items before testing:

1. Anti-static shoes

2.TM5402 surface resistance tester

3.Resistance measurement electrode

4. Foot electrode

Test qualification requirements:

Anti-static shoe system resistance <1.0 x 109 ohms

13

Measurement methods and steps:

1. Connect one end of the black test wire to the negative electrode (-) of the TM5402 surface resistance tester, and connect the other end of the test wire to the foot electrode.

2. Connect one end of the red test wire to the positive terminal () of the TM5402 surface resistance tester, and connect the other end of the wire to the weight electrode

3. Place the one shoe on the foot electrode and place the weight on the anti-static shoe.

4. Set the TM5402 test time to 15 seconds, press the TEST button, wait for the countdown to end, and record the resistance value.

5. Verify the following:

√ The resistance of footwear meets the requirements.

At a minimum, the test report should include the following information:

Date and time of the test, description and identification of the supplementary material tested

Identification of the instrument used for temperature and relative humidity during the measurement period and the date of the most recent calibration.

Compliance of the measurement results with the conditions specified by the EPA, as referenced in the following standards:

IEC 61340-5-1 International Standard for the Certification of Antistatic / IEC International Electrotechnical Commission

ANSI/ESD S20.20 American National Standard/Electrostatic Discharge Association Standard
